There are 20 employees in the Building & Maintenance Department. A Director, an Assistant Supervisor, an Administrative Assistant, a mail and printing clerk, 5 Maintenance Technicians, 4 custodians, 6 housekeeping personnel, and a licensed water and sewer operator.
Our duties include repairs, construction, remodeling, maintaining the buildings, the equipment, grounds, printing operations, courthouse mail, and the security, telephone and voice mail computer systems. We have several buildings that are our responsibility. They are the old and new Courthouse, the Union Square Building, Children Services, The District Justice Offices, the Agriculture and Natural Resource Center, the County Complex that is 180+ acres. The Complex includes the Fire Training Center, the Adams County Adult Correctional Center, and the County's own well water treatment facility, water tower,well pumps, sewer station, and screening system.
The department needs to comply with the NFPA 101 Life Safety Codes, DEP, EPA, ADA, and OSHA requirements.
